A catapult has been developed to shoot away objects, the Romans already did that. For obvious reasons nobody shot away things vertically. However, the dynamics of an object being shot away almost vertically upwards, are beautiful: first the acceleration due to the catapult, next the flight into the sky. The parabolic slowness around its highest point where after the object irrevocably rushes to the earth.

My catapult has been developed to shoot away cross-like forms. <br />During the opening of the exhibition "Vision in Motion - Motion in Vision" of the Verbeke Foundation on June 14th 2008 there has been a one-time performance with the catapult. The catapult will stay there and perish in the course of time. Site Henny van Ham /
