The celebrations of the Semana Santa (holy week) goes back to the catholic roots of Spain in the 4th century AD. The traditions as they can be experienced in Spain today have their origins in the 16th century. Most impressive are the processions during which Paso’s are carried by so called Nazarenos through the streets. The Paso’s are carried by up to 40 people and can weight 2 tons. Many processions last for hours.

In order to carry 2 tons of weight with 40 people for up to 6 hours, a special way of walking has been developed in the past centuries. My Nazarenos are 4 robots (Xavier, Juan, Pepe and Carlos) carrying a religious symbol. The work of art and the movement it makes is inspired by the mysticism around the Semana Santa, the mainspring of the Spanish Nazarenos and, above all, the movement of the Paso’s through the crowded streets in Spain.
